I know it's in the wrong forum, but the poetry forum NEVER get looked at, so I thought I'd post this here. It's a poem I wrote this morning when I was bored, some lines are too long for others, but I tried my best, anyway, sorry it's so long.
There was a girl called Katie, who was only seventeen,
She wasen't one of the popular girls, nor was she a beauty queen,
After school one day someone invited her to go out,
She accepted and run home so jubilant, she felt well-known and proud,
She planned everything for the night, a week in ad-vance,
This had been her first high-school party, she was almost in a trance,
So she put on all her favourite clothes, and daubed herself in perfume,
And went to a designer shop - and bought all the make-up she could consume,
The night had come, her mum drove her there, to a house just down her street,
There she found everyone, and millions of people to meet,
People were complimenting on her dress, she felt like bursting into song,
She was having the time of her life, she thought nothing could go wrong,
She went to some people she knew from school, and they offered her a drink,
She said yes of course, and the alchohol went down her, and started to sink,
She was having fun, with all her girls, she felt like a star,
So she went outside for a quick break, there she found a boy looking at her from his car,
He asked if she was from the party, and she said yes and they started to talk,
He was from the party too, he told her she was pretty and took her for a walk,
They got along really well, and they walked back hand-in-hand,
This was turning out a great night for her, even better than she planned,
When she got back, his car was still there, a couple of his friends were too,
They all said hello to her, and offered to her to bring a friend or two,
For a drive, along the ocean front, and to go around the bend,
So she agreed and went back to the house, to get a couple of friends,
Only one agreed to come, so she took her friend called "Ash"
This boy she met, was in the backseat with her, and they began to pash,
Just as he kissed her lovingly, she realised the driver was drink-driving,
But before she could even scream, the car hit another and down the ditch it went sliding,
The next thing she remembered was looking at the sky,
The world seem blurred, and all she thought was that she was going to die,
She couldn't look down, but could tell she was in deep pain,
Her body was mangled, like her car had suddenly hit a train,
A police mans voice came close to her and all that she could hear,
Was "shes the only one surviving" but she couldn't shed a tear,
That means the people in the other car, were innocently killed,
Then there was a terrible silence, and the air became chilled,
The next thing she could remember was lying in a hospital bed,
With a nurse by the side of her, what she said she was going to dread,
The nurse said "You were the only survivor, everyone in the other car is gone"
"The passengers were a baby girl, mother, father and a son"
"Just rest now, and worry in the morning" the nurse said as she patted her head,
But Katie, tried to speak loud and clear but as she tried her nose bled,
"I want to meet the family so I can tell them Im sorry for what I did"
The answer from the Nurse was "its not your fault hunny, the car wheel must of slid"
But Katie wasen't stupid, she knew it was a lie,
"I knew that he was drink-driving, and the others didn't deserve to die"
"So let me meet the family, and tell them sorry what what I didn't mean to do"
But the nurse said in a soft tone "Sweetheart, the remaining family is you."
