    Default My workout plan

I just turned 13 a couple weeks ago, and I've been running on my running-track for about a month or so. I do 20 minutes each day at 3.5kph and loose about 110 calories each time. Normally, I'd run for 5 minutes, but I need to get orthotics for my feet so I need to put my running on hold. I'm currently 121 pounds and I'm 4"9. I've tried walking with 3pound weights and lifting them in each arm each step, so I lifed my 3 pound weight about 1000 times, and then for the 4 days after that I could barely move my arm.

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a weight lifting machine thing for christmas. They had one at walmart for like 169$ and I might get it.

Do you think I'll loose any weight or gain any muscle? thanks

Dude, your too young. Start when your 16 - 21 when your body has fully developed. You can harm yourself if you do it at 13.

Exactly as I was about to say, if you don't like how fat or scrawny you are, live with it till your body has fully developed, or eat healthy.

You can still exercise at 13, but you're over-working yourself.

what are you talking about it;s the best age to start, all 13 year old girls love 6 packs and good bodies, it's a common known fact. lol, anyway yeah tbh some of the stuff your doing isn't really benefiting you lifting a 3 pound weight 1000 times is pointless, lifting e.g a 10 pound weight 10-20 times would be alot better for you. Same with running, just a little faster for less time. I definately think you will loose weight and gain muscle especially with a multi-gym or w/e but it will only happen if you progress when weight training/ running, theres no point just running the same amount of time everytime, you wont get any fitter, each week try to go for 1 more minute or 5 more reps and eventually you will get fitter and stronger. Good Luck!

Thanks. Oh, and I don't really mind my weight right now, I'm about 5-6 pounds overweight, not much, but it shows a bit. I wouldn't mind loosing some weight, and my mom works out every day at a gym and she inspires me to do it.. I'll try the weights and that, thanks for the advice guys!

Contrary to popular belief, you're never too young to exercise. Properly exercising won't stunt growth or development. In fact, it might even stimulate growth.

What Ramones said was correct. Lifting a 3 pound weight 1000 times is quite pointless. Lifting heavier weights with fewer repititions will give you better results and saves you more time.

Yeh, im 13 and im on a strict fitness and weight scheme training for the british ski team. At our kind of age you want to go mid point. I use a 4kg weight and do 50 curls. When i first started i was using 2kg. So build it up.

I started working out when I was 13 aswell. But I wasn't lifting 3 pounds LOL.

I had a Bowflex and was doing 80 pounds per arm :s Anyway, the running good, I do that too every other day since you CAN'T do them on the same day. Any good trainer will tell you that.

Try lifting more and more weight every time. And do like 20 pounds for 25 curls. Take 30 second break and then do it again for about 4-5 times per arm or at the same time. That's a great way to start

You should only start weightlifting when your nearly fully developed. I'm 14, and i'm probaly going to start lifting weights etc around 17 or so.
