To house train them, you need to take them into the garden regularly, and praise them well if they go outside.
lots of sheets of newspaper is best for weeing on inside. If they try to use the paper, even if the miss () praisethem still. If they don't use the news paper when peope are around them, don't praise them, just pick it up, dispose of it, bring yourself down to their level, and say in a low tone, "no". If you are not in the house, and they have done something, but not on their paper, just dispose of whatever it is. Ignore them, don't say no, as it may have been an accident.

For sex, it depends. I personally love spaniels.

If it's a pedigree, then males or females are good. However I would chose a female, as you could breed from them, and if bred with another pedigree, then puupies can reach £1000 each. They are also easier to train, and males are extremely strong willed and difficult unless you have them "chopped", in which case it's a waste of a pedigree.

    http://www.ehow.com/how_32_house-train-puppy.html
That website will help you on house training your new puppy.

    Gender
Males tend to be more boistrous and playful.
Females tend to be a bit more quieter and loving.

    Breed
It all depends on what you want this dog for, and
the age of people in your house.
If its just a family pet your after a dog for, you wouldn't
go for a dog like a doberman or a rottweiler. If you want a dog
for a guard dog, you don't want a dog like a golden retriever or a labrador.

Go on that link for help in choosing your puppy.

    I hope I helped a bit.

and to add to that, if they have pee'd where they shouldn't have, don't tell them off for it unless you were there whilst they did it. otherwise, if you tell them off for it once you've seen it afterwards, they don't know whether or not they are getting told off for doing it in general, or for the fact they did it where they shouldn't have. otherwise, they might refrain from peeing for as long as they can because they might think its wrong.

breed wise, www.dogbreedinfo.com is a good website to read about different breeds; it tells you everything about them.
female dogs tend to be more independent, whereas male dogs are a lot more lively. but it's not like that in all cases.

a pedigree means thatthe ***** and sire were both the same breed, and so were their parents, 10 generations back.

If you have a pedigree dog, they're very expensive, and prone to theft. Make sure they're well trained, but are wary of strangers.

To put it simpler a pedigree is a dog isnt a mix of any breeds, Both dog and ***** have to be same breed ie

    Dog = Pedigree Boarder Collie
    ***** = Pedigree Boarder Collie

The offspring will be Pedigree Boarder Collie

When buying a pedigree make sure they are kennel club registered and the owner/breeder should have the paperwork to prove it.

EDIT: Sorry the ***** is the proper word for a female dog, (Im not changing it because its the proper word and i use it all the time when im at college and on my work placement)
