Was it Really Worth it?

Here is my first poem I've ever made, kind of. It was an assignment from my reading teacher and I thought I'd share my first word.

Two nations battling for power,
thousands of soldiers at stake,
Some find it pointless and go against it,
others beg to differ.

Me, I find it pointless,
We're not even sure who started it,
Many say Bush did it out of selfishness,
but what has he got to gain?

They used the excuse of 911, but was it really an act of terrorism?
Many known the act of retaliating, it brings us wars,
But an eye for an eye makes the world go blind,
as the famous philosopher Gandhi has spoken of.

Sometimes things just happen, the world's corrupted,
Families are broken up and spilt apart over some pointless crap,
Ask yourself, just ask yourself, deep in your heart,
ask, is it really worth it?
