    Default Leaving Date / Question

    Howdy There!

I thought this would be the best place to post my issue.

My school is saying that the Govement is saying that we cannot leave till we've done all our exams, this means we've got to turn up everyday till 22nd June, our last exam.

Though many other schools across the UK have broke up or break up, is my school simply "making this up" to keep us here, or is it infact true and the govement did say this or another source say this.

Whats the chances that it could be true, even if it means the Local Council has said "keep them in schools?"

Im wondering as i may take this alot further, pretty unfair on us tbh.

they do it with my old school, we weren't allowed study leave. people only went in until they last exam though then never went in again. like i finished on june 12th. it's because people don't study. so they keep them in school to study now.

Yeah, i see where they come from but other schools leave sooner and my last exam is 22nd June yet i know some (roughly 25+) in my year leave around the 12th-14th (I think them dates are right?). Now how is that fair?

i know, it's not really fair. i don't think they can do anything though if you stay off and study. best asking your head of year.

We don't get study leave either; we just get specialist `revision classes` that we `have to` attend although they won't chase you up if you don't attend.

    Sucks to be me.

Sounds like rubbish to me, although it may be something that the local council have said.

I finish for study leave on Friday and don't have to go in at all except for exams.

Last year when I did my Gcse's (Standard Grades) we didn't get study leave and we were meant to come in everyday for school. Majority of us didn't (I did as my mother made me go :rolleyes This year the people doing Gcses get it though, I think it depends on your local council as that was who made our decision..

i left school for study leave yesterday.
we were told its dependant on yr coursework rate, how much you work etc. the school won't let the year off premises until the teachers have taught all they need. in our case, til yesterday.
