There are several ways that a Scammer could work his "Evil Magic".

1) He says "Type in this code to get free creds." Why would he say that? Why would he share it with us? Wouldn't he want to use it for himself?
The Scam Part: The Code is actually His/Hers!

2) "Press F5 to get free furni & Creds!". Now why would he do this? Maybe he is just very impatient! This isn't a scam, it's sort of a trick.
The Scam/Trick part: He/She is probably very impatient and wants you to lose out. F5 simply refreshes your screen, so the scammers can get somewhere they want to, if you are blocking.

3) "Tell me your pw and I can get you free creds!" This is not true! He/she cannot simply just magic you furni! Anyway, if he did have it, wouldn't he want to use it for himself?
The Scam Part: He/she will steal all your furni/creds, and transfer them to his account! If you had any creds, he will buy himself some more furni!

4) "Give me your furni and I can clone it!" If so, wouldn't he also use it. Anyway, do you really think he/she would really return it?
The Scam Part: He will take your furni and run off with it.
