    Default Web Development Forum?

    Hey,

I was talking to Oli ([oli]) on MSN just now and neither of us know of a good web development Forum. There are sites like digitalpoint, etc but they don't interest me.

So I'm wondering, should I make a Web development forum? I know THOUSANDS of people have had this idea and it almost ALWAYS fails. But I'm actually thinking about it.

I was thinking if I did set it up, what about having 2 parts to the forum. One section for beginners and one for more advanced designers/coders.

This means people who are starting can get all the help (without the fear of getting 'flamed' or getting abused hurled at them by other members). they need from people that are around the same ability as theirselves - if not a little bit more advanced.
It would also mean the same for the more advanced designers/coders.

This forum would NOT be Habbo related and would focus solely on Web Development. Swearing would be allowed as the forum would be looking for a more maturer and generally older userbase.

Oh and also, unlike many other people that attempt to create a site like this. I'd make sure I had the funds available to support this site (to afford the vB, hosting, etc).

What's your views on this idea? Please only post your honest views and ideas.

    Thanks,
    Simon

I think this would be a great idea, as sites like WebDeveloper.com only have one section and it's mainly for advanced, whereas this would include people who are starting off.

    Thumbs up

I agree; but could you name some dedicated to Web development for people around 14-18 years old?

Not a bad idea - except I might suggest you pass on the beginners/advanced sections solely because it might:

    a) Intimidate the beginners into becoming more advanced/competant.
    b) Cause the beginners to get less help because the "Advanced" users can't be bothered to go "help the noobs" with their "stupidity and whatnot" - you know what I mean?

And also a good Web Development Forum I use is www.codingforums.com - they are very helpful!

EDIT: What you might consider is doing something like CodingForums where Active Users with like 150+ Posts and that have been registered for more than like 3 months can view a sub-forum?
