Default Pointless Facts/Records [Post Your Finds]

Was searching through some sites found some pointless facts/records lol

    World's Fastest-Selling Entertainment Robot

The world's fastest-selling entertainment robot is the AIBO. In Japanese it means "companion". It is also an acronym for Artifical Intelligence Robot. When AIBO made its first appearance on Sony's website on May 31, 1999, 3,000 were sold in 20 minutes. On June 1, 1999, when 2,000 AIBOs became available over the internet in America, the rush to buy the puppy caused web servers to crash! AIBO is 28 cm (11 in) tall and retails for over $2,000.

World's Longest Concert by a Group

The Grand Boys played for a record 42 hr 38 min from February 20–22 2004 at Smith's Restaurant, Stirling, Scotland, UK. The group – charity fundraisers – opened their record-breaking set with an apt song: Dedication, the theme tune to the classic BBC Record Breakers TV show by Roy Castle!

    World's Smallest Advertisement

To celebrate the launch of this very website, Guinness World Records commissioned the smallest-ever advertisement. It was worn on the knee band of a bee and measured just 100 x 100 microns. Just to give you an idea of how small that is - a human hair is between 40 and 100 microns in diameter! The sharp-eyed scientists at the UK's Rutherford Appleton Laboratory made the ad. They're big news in microstructure circles. They make things like sensors for car airbags, micro-motors, and integrated circuits.

    World's Tallest Man Living

Tunisia's Radhouane Charbib measured 2 m 35.9 cm (7 ft 8.9 in) as a result of seven measurements taken on April 22–23, 1999 in Tunis.

World's Highest Annual Earnings - CEO

Lawrence J. Ellison, founder and CEO of Oracle Corporation for 25 years earned $706,077,000 (£477,886,294) in 2001 after exercising 23 million stock options that were granted to him ten years earlier. Assuming a 40-hour workweek, this is the equivalent of almost $340,000 an hour.

    World's Most Expensive Hotel Room

The most expensive hotel room in the world as of 2003 is the Imperial Suite at the President Wilson Hotel in Geneva, Switzerland, which can be reserved for the princely sum of $33,000 (£20,907) per night.

    World's Most Expensive House Built

Hearst Castle at San Simeon, California, USA was built for William Randolph Hearst between 1922-39 for a total cost of more than US$30 million, equivalent today to US$276,883,320.
