Hi all

Well, I came home today and couldnt believe it when mum told me she got a letter from the school saying something along the lines of -

"Your Son, ********, Has been selected to recive an award for effort and attitude on 11 December. The £10 Voucher award will be handed to him by RT. Hon Michael Howard"

I was absoloutly

But then I realized that means I have to go up on the stage, infront of hundreds and hundreds of people to take the award - I instantly thought I couldnt do it but realized I had to. I know its a while away but I am so so so nervous about doing it its scary to think! How do you overcome, like.. Shyness? I keep thinking something might happen..

it's not that bad, i always have to do that. well used to anyways. i've been on TV in front of thousands, now that was embarassing. you think it's going to be bad, but when it comes to it you're not nervous. it's just the build up of it. as soon as you go get the award you'll be ok.

You just need abit of self confidence and to belive in yourself
If you can't find a dram grup at your school, see if there is any after school in the community etc Just to help build your confidence and well done

Thanks everyone, I remember when I got awards before and I had to walk up to get it and after I thought "What was I so scared about?" lol

Whenever I'm shy, nervous or scared, it's normally because I think people are thinking bad things about me. To stop it, I say, why do I care what they think? It helps me & I go with confidence & high self-esteem.

No offense but isn't "effort and attitude" the sort of award that special kids get given when aged 14 they finally manage to go an entire lesson without burning the table or eating the handouts?
