Thread: Being in a band

    Default Being in a band

Right, so I've been playing drums for nearly a year, I'm in a band in my mates and we've got a place to rehearse.

At the moment I'm seriously considering leaving and finding a better band or waiting until I'm better, because none of us can agree on what to do really.

The guitarists & vocalist are playing much faster stuff than I can keep up with (we're playing metal/rock, so most things are fast & involve double-pedal), and they keep making decisions without asking me if I can play the stuff.

At first they wanted to cover Machine Head - Davidian, which I think I may be able to nail if I jammed along with it a few times. But now they want to do Lamb Of God - Black Label, and I seriously don't think I'm good enough to play that yet...

Should I find a different band? Or should I just talk to the guys about stuff I want to play rather than doing the stuff they want to do and I don't, because I'm annoyed and dunno what to do with the band right now >_>

(sorry if this is in the wong section.)

If they respect you as a member they should take your opinion into consideration. You should sort something out between yourselves on what to play and make a group decision .

I thought that the drums were the instrument that kept the beat/pulse.
You should also come up with ideas together and see what you agree on and then choose something that you all agree on.
There's no "I" in team so like I said, dont do something that you just want to do. Your a group/team make your decisions together.

Also; ask a mod if they can move it for you!
