    Default Is this considered cheating?

Yeah, I would like to know whether this is considered cheating.
If a student was going to do a test about a book, but the questions on the test are completely unknown (obviously). Would it be considered cheating if that student went on the Internet and looked up information about the book which gave notes on different aspects of it. In my opinion, it is the same thing as the teacher going over the book with you, and telling you what pieces mean.

And it's not like that student would know the questions on the test, but they may just get a better understanding of the book, is it considered cheating?

    Thank's for all replies.

it would just be considered as research as you don't know the questions you can't really cheat before the exam.

Exactly, it's just getting some help, like when the teacher helps you, but I don't want to feel like I've cheated my GCSE's my whole life, which is why I'm asking here.

I agree with that, it's not cheating, it's just learning.

no, its a good thing to do, its not cheating

for my english lit exam, i had unknown questions on poems and the novel the catcher in the rye... so instead of using the notes everybody had got in my group i went on the internet and researched the poems/novels to get good original interpretations and different to the same points most people make.. because examiners like original interpretations of say something in a novel rather than the norm that everybody churns out, it got me a* in lit so i'm not complaining :8
