Default Turkey puppet goes to Eurovision

Ireland are hoping that a puppet called Dustin the Turkey will win this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

The children's favourite was plucked out as the best of six finalists by Irish voters.
They decided the puppet's performance would be the one to ruffle some feathers at the song contest in Belgrade in Serbia in May.
Dustin sings a song called Irelande Douze Pointe, which is a take-off of Eurovision scoring.

Lol Ireland's chance of wining this time is nill. How can u pick a chicken to sing

I'm going to assume good faith with the whole thing this year.

The panel consisted of Marija (or Harry or Sharon), Louis Walsh and Dana (winner from way back). None of them wanted it to win, and it got booed madly when it won.

It's unlucky in the fact that it's in the same semi-final as another novelty song (Leto Svet from Estonia), and they don't have the UK to vote for them.

As for the old Eastern Europe thing, there are two semi-finals, and the countries can only vote in the semi-final they are in! They split the countries into 6 pots according to their televoting history, and drew them out and put them on a washing line. For example, good friends Greece and Cyprus aren't together.

Ten countries from each Semi go to the final with Serbia (they won), France, Spain, Germany and the UK (we pay for it!). Then everyone gets to vote. There will be a bigger variety of countries in the final, and of course, the neighbours will vote for each other, but there will be plenty of other songs to get points too.

If a singing Turkey can't win then the whole contest means nothing!

Lol. I bet it has a better chance than we do

And obviously an Eastern European will win.

It's just time to leave Eurovision. Everyone said it last year, but this crazy tradition goes on every year despite it being full with all these eastern Europeans.

Why can't Gordon Brown get rid of it? He seems more than happy to get rid of most other traditions and Britishness, he'd be doing us a favour getting rid of this ****.

I'd be surprised if Ireland got past the semi's.

Yes, without us to vote for them. I'd not be surprised to see them get 0 points.

Also, I'd just like to remind everyone that last years contest was held in FINLAND, and last time I checked, Finland was not in Eastern Europe.

Regardless of where it was held, that holds no relavence. The old Soviet block of countrys do vote for eachothers and all of Europe would vote for anyone except Britain.
