God this is such a messed up family of scum bags. I gather this is what happened:

They all plotted to keep Shannon peacefully and well for many weeks, possibly months and then when a huge reward was put up like one for Madeline McCann, a family friend would then hand her in. Till then she would be staying weeks/months with her step dads uncle as they thought no one would ever look there for her. They'd split the fortune between them all (inc step dads mum & sister who where also arrested with helping). I'm guessing the £20,000 reward a newspaper put up wasn't big enough for them and they wanted to keep her for longer than 3 weeks to make it sound more real. No idea what they told Shannon but she must of been alright about it.

Yeah they are a pretty wierd family. What with the step-dad being arrested for child porn offences too.

Then her step-dad. Then her step-dad's sister, and step-dad's mum.

Now Shannon's mother, Karen Matthews has been arrested.

It's good to see the police clamping down on ugly people.

i can't believe that her step-dad didn't think to hide his stash, what with yorkshire's biggest investigation since the yorkshire ripper case going on around him... to me it seems like this was much more sinister than simply trying to get reward money. part of me reckons he was grooming shannon (possibly for his step-uncle) and then when she knew about it shannon's mother stuck by her husband and "perverted the course of justice"

but thats just my theory

I saw this today on a newspaper too, they're a seriously messed up family :S I did wonder why she didn't care a whole lot about the whole ordeal...
