Default the last shadow puppets - the age of the understatement (album)

    http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1432133/7053513/
(for people who use torrents, im sure demonoid let's you download if you're not a member, as long as the torrent is less than a couple of weeks old.)
leaked only a day before the proper release date. standards are lacking

im listening to it now, and tbh its a bit of a let down. it sounds a lot like arctic monkeys, with alex doing about 70% of the singing, unless of course miles (from the rascals) has a voice sounding exactly the same. which is a shame, because i thought it was going to like a new sound
it'll probably have to grow on me, just like 'favourite worst nightmare' did.
it's worth downloading/buying, just dont expect too much from it

oooh, might have a listen to that tonight then.

    yeahh i know.
when i heard age of the understatement i wondered why i could only hear alex singing, then i downloaded some rascals songs and realised they sound the same anyway.

hm i know noone on here is very supportive of nme reviews, but i think that they are usually quite accurate. they gave this album 8 so it's quite promising but i'll see for myself later on.

i think it's good. Don't get me wrong Alex plays the main part in the song, but if the other guy was taken away there would probably be a big difference.

yeah, i almost always trust pitchforkmedia.com to give a reliable review, and they gave it a 7.7 out of 10 today, which is actually higher than what they gave WPSIAM and FWN (both a 7.4) so i might check it out.

well tbh pitchfork dont know what they're talking about if they gave WPSIAM a 7.4. its a brilliant album, and deserves at least an 8/9.

pitchfork are the most influential music publication around today. they're responsible for a number of bands' success, most notably arcade fire and interpol. 7.4 isnt a bad rating (6.7 is average, and there are far worse ratings than that), they said its a fun album, but it doesnt dig too deep. which i agree with. i love wpsiam too, but its not an album that'll stick, really. i usually agree with pitchfork, they might be elitist and obscure sometimes, but they're pretty much always right. nme have no idea whatsoever what they're talking about, ever. they gave blueberry boat by the fiery furnaces, a piece of musical art and experimentation a 1/10 because their reviewers are so close-minded.

well, if 6.7 is the average then i suppose its a fair review
and i agree with the nme comment, i like reading it, but sometimes i think that their reviewers should get their heads out of their ***** and actually write a proper review, not a crappy one that they spent two minutes on, because they know regardless of the quality, tons of people will buy it and believe it
