You get your own places to stay to save but why would it matter how much you have? I highly doubt you'll get that much unless you cheat your butt off and you're money is safe anyway :S

I did, when ever the police was after me used to hide in apartment because they couldnt get in

You can't buy them. You do however gain several. One of which (so far) depends on which person you kill. One gets you a hideout, the other $25,000.
