In the first ever all English European Cup final, Manchester United, the newly crowned Champions of England take on the runners-up to both the Premierleague and League Cup at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. Avram Grant is gunning to be the first Chelsea manager to win a European cup and Alex Ferguson is ready to give the Devils a 3rd Champions League title.
Fans from all over the UK and Europe have made the trip out to Moscow to see the match and some fans paying over £1,000 for the trip. Over 200 Chelsea fans were left stranded at Gatwick airport this morning as their flight had been cancelled and there is no chance of them getting to Moscow.
Other fans made up obscure ways of getting to Moscow which included road trips, 17 hour train journies and several flights. The cheapest way that a fan got to Moscow was using boat, train and air which cost him £285.
Chelsea suffered a set back in the way of Ashley Cole whose ankle was injured yesterday after a rash tackle by team-mate Claude Makelele in training. The England international is set to start at left back though, despite the injury setback.
Alex Ferguson has a full squad to choose from tonight and is finding it hard who to play - all 23 players that flew out to Moscow wants to be a part, but only 18 can. It's sure to be a testing time of Ferguson's managerial skills as he plays Chelsea for the 4th time this season.
The pitch at the Luzhniki Stadium has been the main talking point over the past few days with the pitch having to be imported from Slovakia and relayed in quick time. Both managers refused to comment negatively on the pitch and Ferguson says the pitch is "no excuse" if they fail to win.
The referee, like the pitch, is also from Slovakia and is "not to Premierleague standard". It's near enough guarenteed that the loosing side will blame part of the result on the pitch - it's got to be.
Kick off is at 19:45 BST and it's on ITV1, Sky Sports 1 and Radio Five Live.
My personal view 1-0 United.
