Hmm, I have Windows Professional, and I just had to re-boot my laptop. It isn't picking up any sound/speaker devices and I can't listen to anything even though I know my laptop has in-built speakers. Any suggestions?

Have you made sure it isn't on mute, sometimes that' can happen.
Open the sound properties (double click on the speaker icon that is in the taskbar) and check all the sliders are up.

Yep, I can't even find that speaker in the corner. It doens't pick up any sound devices.
I've never used W2000 but i assume if you go into control panel there will be something in there releated to your sound, have a browse in there.
Install your soundcard drivers. Try Windows update, or the chances are you have an AC'97 card which you can get the drivers for here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...3&DownTypeID=3
