Default What is the point with iStockphoto?

The whole point is that you pay for the images.. Yet they offer a nice little popup box so you can just screenie the whole page and pick off the icons/images. Yes, they have a scrummy little watermark that does absolute nothing. They also offer a free viewing of the files when you click on the image it takes you to the gallery and you click "Download a comp" and they make it easier for you.. Just thought I'd say.

What is your opinions on this?

    Pointless money-making site tbh.
Same with iStock Vector, you can easily vector your own GFX or rip them.

You are paying for the right to use them, you dont have the right to use it.

Not paying for them to soley remove the water mark.

See, people who steal things and use them without rights should have no access to the internet.

Although you can easily find images on Google, I think it's pointless.
    But still a decent service.

I'm not saying you shouldn't pay for them, people have worked hard to produce them icons but iStock are doing naff' all to protect the images. Thats what the thread intension was about, not stealing the images

They shouldn't have to watermark them, or prevent people from stealing them.

Danny, I thought you were dead or something?

I agree but there will always be people wanting things for free. They should put a better watermark over the images or maybe even make a little flash application so the user can put a watermark over the image themselves and also determine the opacity? Saves people moaning at iStock

    pahaa

Nah just sorted my life out x

Well even getting images from Google isnt legal really, it still requires getting permission from the web master(s). sxc.hu is good, and its free.

Some sites will allow you to use the images, some photographers on Flickr will also allow this.

Yes they should protect their content better.

I prefer taking my own photographs.

(No Darren, don't you bother replying going "WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU HAVE" trying to act smart as the answer is Nikon D300)
