Default Not giving reffer links - Pointless rule?

I don't see the problem with posting a reffer link, eg somone posting there bux.to or myhpf.co.uk reffer link. Its not realy causing any problems.

Maybe people shpuld be allowed to post reffer links as long as they provide a non reffer link aswell.

I suggested this rule back when I was a moderator. The idea behind the rule was to quelsh the posting of the same referral site over and over again at the time. There was about 6 or so threads all related to the the same site but with different referral links and people were getting tired of it, as was I and the other moderators been powerless to do anything about it. The thing is, when you post a referral site and people sign up under your referral they might decide they want to do the same thing and then create a thread of their own and next thing you know discuss anything is full of this spam. The original idea behind this rule was to stop them before the problem even started.

However remember that you are not nessercerly allowed to post links to referral sites you should be allowed to include them in your signature if you wish .

I quite like this rule , stops people from spamming the forums with these links in their posts and signatures like they used to and prevents people from making money off others.
Most off the time the referral link sites are fake and don't actually payout, either way they're just annoying.

Two perfect quotes from good ex-Super Moderators. These are the exact reasons the rule is inplace.

Are these the annoying sites that give you an id at the end of a link and then somehow you get money from clicking it? Good rule, those sites are annoying and unwanted :/

These sites are like, sign up > Complete "offers" > Get points > Spend points on free things. However you can earn more points by getting other people to sign up and complete offers and sometimes you get a percentage of the points the make. However, I agree with you they are annoying and unwanted and therefore have no place here.

The rule isn't pointless, it stops people spamming up forums with them, not that I take part in them anyways.
