Default Are the confirmed posts really working?

Second time I've seem spam adverts on the forum, the first time was your typical spam advert which was closed and removed after, if posts are having to be approved surely no adverts should be getting through?

I think it would just be better to go back to the old way and just remove the adverts instead of confirming every post a newbie posts, at least that way normal users won't get annoyed.

If adverts are posted it's usually quick to be removed anyway, seeing as normal moderators have a thread dump too, with 9 super mods it shouldn't take long at all for the problem to be noticed.

I dont think so cause you still see loads of people saying "I think its stupid my posts have to be approved" Mabey lower it or check the IPS of new users to see if they have being on the forum beofre.

Nah, there is just a flaw in the system.
That phishing site was from someone who had joined a while ago (08-05-2005). And the flaw is that new users have worked out that if you're a "goody two-shoes" in your first few posts, it might not be as easy to be seen after those few poss, in which they become an "e-rebel" or an "e-thug" (y'know, 'cos causing trouble in real life is dangerous) or whatever you wanna call it.

I agree it can be quite annoying because i for one only check to approve new posts/ threads every hour or so that im online and the Smods have a lot of other jobs aswell and they will find it hard to approve all the threads that need doing so its up to the moderators really and it is very easy to forget to do this.

Maybe if a few Moderators had access to approve all the threads and not just their sections this could work. Not sure though.

The thread you are referring to was approved by an smod. He didn't actually realise it was a spam ad thread but instead thought it was a "show of your site" sort of thread which is why he approved it. These mistakes do happen but hopefully won't happen too often .

    Thanks for voicing your concerns.

is it not atleast worth lowering the amount of posts to say 5, 15 is a lot to get approved.
If I was looking to spam advertise the forum I would be put off as soon as I saw that the posts needed to be approved.
15 seems to be over kill.

Just look in the complaints forum and count the number of complaints on it.
