    Question [Wireless] Help [Wireless]

Basically 1 of my family thinks that the internet wireless needs to be more secure so I was wondering to put a password on the wireless connection,
is it legal to put a password through the wireless connection from the wireless adapater (pc 2)?

    E.g. Pc 1 - Router + broadband
Pc 2 - Wireless adapter to pick up internet signal

So can you put a password on the wireless connection by going onto pc 2 then visiting the default website address and then add a password, is that legal or illegal?
I don't accept pm's, instead leave a message on my profile aka vistor message thing.

No, its not illegal to put a password on your own connection, its actully advised, and can be done by your routers IP. 192.168.1.1 it differates between the routers, but thats my router ip.

Why would it be illegal? It wouldn't be an option if it was illegal... :S
    That went fast.

You'd do it from the router, the router will be broadcasting the connection and therefore broadcasting the request for authentication (password) . The adapter will be looking for the connection and have to respond with the password

so set it up on the router

Your connection can be configured on any computer connected to the wireless network

If you visit your routers ip: 127.0.0.1 (Cant remember in my head)

And login to the router administration and it should have WEP Ecryption somewere, thats what you need
