Thread: New Laptop

  1. #1

    Default New Laptop

I'm thinking of getting myself a Dell Studio 17 laptop.
I've seen some good reviews and I think it's perfect for what I'd be doing with it - Multimedia development & web development.

    Specs:
    17 Widescreen WXGA+ CCFL (1440x900) TFT Display with TrueLife™
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5750 (2.0 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1- English
256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3650
    2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
    250GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Slot Load Drive including Software

Decent resolution, good processor, decent gfx for a laptop, and a decent ammount of ram and disk space.

    for this, £499

It also has a built in 2mp webcam, and the option of a fingerprint reader which I'm not including.

If anyone knows any decent laptops similar specs that are cheaper, let me know. I don't want to spend over £500 as I'm forking out the whole lot from my student loan.

Id say go for the Dell laptop!
Never argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level, and beat you with experience.

Don't go for Dell. They suck. The motherboards for that model and the batteries for that model don't work that well.

    Wow, this is sorta ironic.

Never had a dell before in my life. 2 week ago, i bought one! And ive loved it. The speed is great, and graphics are good (dell inspiron 1720) bought mine for £400 and its been fine.

Eerr... Built in webcam, has amazing quality with no blurriness ive seen.
I know its not the same as your one, but Dell are definately out there in the top Laptop/Notebook producers

Good luck on your decision =]
