Using wireless with home hub

Hi, I just switched over to BT this morning, and I've set it all up fine and it works on a wired connection.
When I try to connect to it through wireless, the network just doesn't show. It came up for a few minutes earlier, but when I restarted my laptop the network had gone again.

Anyone know how to get it to show? Am I missing something?

Make sure your router or whatever is broadcasting the SSID;

It is possible to make your wireless network nearly invisible. By turning off the broadcast of the SSID, your network will not appear in a site survey. Site Survey is a feature of many wireless network adapters on the market today. It will scan the "air" for any available network and allow the computer to select the network from the site survey.

I just checked the home hub settings, it's already broadcasting the SSID
Any other ideas?

Is there any other networks in your street you can find? Could be problem with the network card in laptop, also is the WiFi on? sometimes its disblaed like on dell laptops.

Try changing the wireless routers channel.

I can connect perfectly to other networks, so that stuff is no problem.
My built-in wireless has just this second connected to the network with an excellent signal strength, but my USB wireless still can't find it.

It's currently set to 'Automatic', and it's on channel 1. What do you recommend I change it to?

You're better off leaving it with the built-in one anyways, could be a fault with the USB dongle thing.

But my USB dongle has always worked better than the built-in one.
Also, the network wasn't showing up in the 'Choose a wireless network' window thing for my built-in one, it just randomly connected.

Edit: the built-in wireless has now disconnected, and the network is not showing up when I search for networks.

Update: I was on the phone to BT for an hour before, but they were useless. Anyone else got any ideas?

Yeh it disconnects you when it updates, possibly one of the most annoying routers I've ever used and am still using.
