They didn't have the financial power for the Blue Square Premier so they went straight to the Unibond League.

On the last day of the 06/07 season, they were in a position where they were relegated with 10min of the game against Wrexham to play. So since they were having financial difficulties, their owner/chairman entered the club into a Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA) and as a consequence, they were docked 10points from that season which mathematically relegated them before the game had finished. He done this so they wouldn't start the next season in the Conference on -10 points.

Howeverrrrr, the FA were against their motive so they decided to demote the club a further division into the Conference North. They finished midtable in that season in 11th place, but since they were still in administration by the end of the season, they were demoted again into the league they're in now.
