Builiding own desktop computer. Opinions please!! +16rep.

Hey hey, after seeing my friend get his new desktop computer, it's inspired me to build my own. Most of the things listed is what he got (which was apparently recommended) but i've changed minor things such as they keyboard, speakers, disk drive (cos he forgot to order one), mouse and case (not sure whether it's practical though). I just want to know if the important things are correct seeing as i'm essentially looking for a fast gaming computer, however all the practical things (ie; schoolwork) is also appropriate for it. Ta x.
I'm only shopping from HERE if you wish to reccomend new things.

I'd change the processor to a intel core 2 duo, but thats just me hating AMD's

It dosen't really matter if its for school work, but at the end of the day, aventually you will want to play games on it as what youve show is a pretty powerful pc (or can be if used propley)

I was going to say, chance the HDD but its seagate and there quite agood make.

Well i'm not too bothered with the monitor, I don't really want any bigger then 22" but whatever is best for value I guess.

Monitor dosent really matter the response time is the same, as i said. but my mates got it and its pretty good especily for gaming, although your using it for school work. You would have to give links to the list of specs, becasue if you want to make a pc theres low on wattage (like it really matters) the monitor i chose has 55 watt consumption.

And Processor will run faster depending on make really, or even type. Like for intel quads there are diffrent types, but whatever floats your boat really.
There isnt much diffrence, but its just what id go for.

But yeh, see what other people say, im going to get flamed most probably. So dont just listen to me.

Thanks for your help. Also about the case, pretty much chose it because it looked great haha and the price was also pretty decent compared to what my friend got. Would like to know if its practical and also has good layout etc.

I doubt you'll ever need 500GB, so go down to 250GB or 400GB, and slap up your RAM to 4GB maybe.

You'll probably only use 20GB in programs, images, documents etc.
OS is round 40GB (Vista)

Ive nearly used up my 500GB on school work, songs and films, although i do have few games. Over 6 years of having this pc. (so you could make this last awile.) But slap up ram to 4GB? Hes shown that hes getting two 2048mb ram sticks, making it 4GB. And inless he gets a 64bit OS and a motherboard that can take more, he cant use more than 4GB anyway due to limits.

I'll be having 4gb, but i'm still debating whether to get vista or xp and if i should sacrifice that extra .6gb of ram for xp. /shrug. I've heard mixed opinions about vista so i'm not sure.

Actually, he has x2 1024GB. - I didn't say he will for a fact, I said I doubt as its quite a bit to max out. In most cases they never fill it up. Especially when its a new computer.
