    Default Upgrading my iPod Touch?

Hi, I'm on 2.1 firmware at the moment and i have jailbroken. Now that 2.2 has been released I want to upgrade. After the upgrade...

    Will I need to re-jailbreak?
When I do re-jailbreak will all my Cydia apps still be intact?

    Thanks.

Well, when I went from touch 1.1.3 to 1.1.4, I had to restore to factory settings, update, jailbreak once it was released, and put all my apps back.
Keep in mind that was at least 6 months ago but still... I reckon it'd be best to restore to factory settings else you might have a £200 (ish) paperweight...
i've been here for over 8 years and i don't know why

I'm going to load the firmware into iTunes manually (CTRL + Click the Restore Button), so will I be ok just upgrading rather than restoring first?

I'm not quite sure if you will loose them, but it is possible to jailbreak your 2.2 with QuickPwn, that is what i have done, you could try a normal update and see what happens, or mabye there is an internal application that can update to 2.2, it might be listed as a cydia app or you might find a sorce for it

Thanks Kevin, but if something does go wrong when I update it while jailbroken, what can I do to fix it? Do I only have to restore?

I faced that problem about a week ago, i diddent follow the steps correctly and i 'bricked' my iPod, thank god it is a common occurrence and is eazyly fixable.

    1. First if your iPod is already not turned off then turn it off by holding the Hold and the Home button down until the iPod turns off and the release them.

    2. Next press the Hold button until you see the apple logo and as soon as you see the apple logo quickly let go of the Hold button and press and hold the Home button.

    3. Hold the Home Button until you see the Recovery Mode screen and let go of the Home button.

    4. Now Plug in your iPod if already not plunged in and open iTunes.

    5. Now Press the restore button in iTunes and restore your iPod Touch.

And there you have it. An Unbricked iPod Touch.

I'm not sure if you will or not because my Touch isn't jailbroken, but when you upgrade to 2.2 you will lose everything (jailbroken-wise, of course, you'll still have music, vids, apps etc).

However it shouldn't be too hard jailbreaking it again in 2.2
Here's the link for the jailbreak for 2.2:

Again, mine isn't jailbroken so any problems you have will need to be asked elsewhere

Thanks to everyone who answered, but before I try and jailbreak again, does anyone have a definate answer to whether I will have to restore before upgrading?

    Thanks again :p
