Default Burke 'massively beating' Leona record

Alexandra Burke has broken another record with her debut single 'Hallelujah'.

The X Factor winner has sold more downloads of her debut single in two days than the previous record set by Leona Lewis in a week.

The song was downloaded a total of 149,546 times in its first two days of release compared with Leona Lewis's previous record, which saw 139,000 copies of 'A Moment Like This' snapped up in seven days.

"Alexandra Burke has got off to a quite spectacular start with her recording of 'Hallelujah'," said The Official Chart Company's Mark Talbot.

"Every year's X Factor winner is battling to live up to the huge expectations raised by previous winners, and this year Alexandra is close to surpassing all of those expectations.

The song previously had the fastest ever one-day downloads across Europe.

"After just two days, she has already set another new landmark - selling more downloads in a week than anyone else on history - and could be on her way to breaking more records."

Burke's winning single 'Hallelujah' will be available physically in record shops from today.

A lot more people know about X Factor nowadays, you expect it to go up in 2 years.

I don't think Simon would quit Judging. Would anybody watch it without Simon?

It's his own show though he can do what he likes.

Leona set the record with Run a few week ago, not A Moment Like This. When AMLT was first released the main market was physicals anyway, this had rapidly changed and now downloads make up the bigger market. Regardless, at least Leona could set the record with a song released outside of The X Factor and didn't have 14 Million people following her for the last 10 weeks. Leona ftw :8!

I agree completely. I don't think Alexandra will achieve such a succesful song like "Bleeding Love" How long was thid actually number one for? and that was number one for quite some time in different countris ^_^

In the UK she was Number 1 for 7 consecutive weeks with Bleeding Love, and in the US she was Number 1 for 3 or 4 non-consecutive weeks with it. In the US I remember she was #1 then the next week Madonna was #1, then the week after she was back on the top spot and kept getting knocked off and back up there ! I dont think Alexandra will do too well in America, maybe she will in Europe but I don't think in America she will crack it.
