    Default Art Examination Help!!

Well i'm just about to do my art exam soon and I have a few weeks to prepare. You have to pick a topic and I picked Pop art- Here and now. So I have to do a piece of pop art about the 21st century. I need some ideas because i'm soooo confused. I think I want Barack Obama to be involved with this piece as he is a big part of the 21st century but if I can''t involve him no bother.

    Any Ideas people??

    Please help

Look at some of Andy Warhol's work, i used his work as a guide on my exam last year. I know he isn't 21'st century exactly but will give you an idea.

    Lmao scott!

I'd be more than happy to help just PM me if you get stuck. I didn't carry art on to A Level because I decided I would rather it be a hobby... But I got an A* in GCSE? Haha you're probably actually older than me!

Either way, I sell both realistic art and pop art so all I can say is make sure you pick a photo to do with really good lighting. One of Andy Warhol's most famous endeavours was Marylin Monroe - A huge icon with a distinctive and recognisable face which is needed as pop art is so vague and undetailed. For this reason, Barak Obama is a very good choice with the recent election and his distinctive position. In fact, I don't think I could think of any face more publicised...

And as Falcon said, Andy Warhol is a good start! I saw a room of his work at the tate liverpool quite recently. But even though he isn't 21st century pop art is looked on as being very modern, so you shouldn't have trouble with finding some more recent artists....

Sorry for the essay! But Im just a PM away

    1. Jeremy 1129 up, 295 downA named based on the biblical name Jeremiah. Used as a name for children who are blessed with a large brain and/or penis. Also used as a replacement for "perfect".
We had a child and it had a very large penis so we named it Jeremy.

Okokok a bit of a advice on Warhol and the 21st century, was meant to write it last night but had to pop off to bed!

Well, he took well recognised symbols such as coke bottles and campbells soup cans- simple and commonly known, making art enjoyable and recognisable for all classes rather than the 'elitists'. This idea was then backed up when he started mass producing his paintings so it was easy to get hold of his art- he said he wanted to 'be a machine'. He also had this theory of '15 minute fame', kinda indicating the transcience in humans and the effect that fame had on the world. Like he chose to do Marylin Monroe - one of many victems of the superficiality of the desired glamourized fame - he wanted people to see through this. But even though he isn't 21st century pop art you could easily relate his ideas to modern world? I'm not much of a politician but issues of war - due to greed - due to money -famous faces like George Bush, Saddam Hussain? Warhol didn't only paint people he painted objects! So what, McDonalds fries, a coke can or even alcohol (abuse), cigarettes? He took the simplest of objects that underneath it all conveyed the most complex of ideas. Read through the newspaper, find commonly known issues (Credit Crunch?) it may give you a few ideas.

I completely ramble on when it comes to art...

A really really really good effective idea! Butttt it's all a bit much for one picture. The whole point of pop art is to convey the idea through a really simple image. So the whole scene you mapped out would just be a painting done in pop art style, however not with the aim of pop art behind it if u get me... There would be a lot of meaning behind it, however everything about that painting is on the canvas, rather than a simple symbol that sparks off ideas.

I'm doing mine a few weeks aswell but i get the project ideas next week.
There was some girl in the year above me last year that did some popart stuff.
She took pictures of 2 of her friends, one looking innocent and one kind of like a rebel. Then she developed the pictures in different ways with different colours and stuff. Then she put loads of pictures around them that related well with the type of person. It all looked really effective in the end.
I think doing something related to Obama would work really well
