Oh so if I download from MS, it does it by itself instead of overwriting?

Thats good as I already am downloading from MS

Can you confirm that it automatically does it, as I've already f***ed up a computer once !

Basically if you make a new partition you can have Windows 7 running on one and Vista on the other. Its not to do with weather you download it from MS or not, its just faster that way, its to do with weather you install it on a separate partition or install it over your Vista partition.

When I'm making a partition it says all of the C: bytes are taken but on free space it has 47% but it says I have 0 bytes free when trying to make a partition

You might have some unmoveable blocks near the end of the partition. I have no idea how to solve that if it is the case though .

Sorry to bump an old thread but this video is quite useful:

    http://cnettv.cnet.com/2001-1_53-50005089.html

When you have installed, they have a few videos in their "Quick Tips" series:

    http://cnettv.cnet.com/2001-1_53-50005144.html
    http://cnettv.cnet.com/2001-1_53-50005074.html

There are more "Quick Tips" on Windows 7, just look in the playlist.

Also, to familiarise yourself with Windows 7, watch this "First Look from the Labs" video:

    Hope this helps!
