Default Cameron leads way in MP scandal

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8044998.stm
David Cameron says he will lead senior Conservatives in repaying "excessive" expenses - warning that he will boot any MPs who refuse out of the party. The Tory leader apologised to the public, saying he was "appalled" by the expenses that have come to light via leaks to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
He is repaying £680 claimed for repairs which included the removal of wisteria from the chimney of his second home.
And he said a number of his shadow ministers were writing out cheques.

A suprise to me on how hard Cameron is tackling this, and good on him. He seems to be showing thatcherite qualities now and hopefully he will continue this when and if he becomes Prime Minister. I have never fully supported David Cameron but he does seem to be moving more right-wing as time goes on, so hopefully we'll have a government which works by 2010.
As for the MP's across all three main parties, what an absolute disgrace and i'm glad they've been found out finally.

Never thought I'd say this, ever, but Cameron... for the win?

Hmmm, I think I shall vote Conservative. Yu wouldn't get this response from Labour, other than "We will get on top of this" from a Mr. Brown yet no action taken.

    Good on him?

It's pathetic. They shouldn't of done it in the first place. They're only sorry they got found out.

    Mrs.McCall - I'm out of this world.

im sorry, i wont pretend to know much about politics, but is this all it takes to influence voters?

I think it persuades people mainly because well... that is probably the most radical thing that we've heard in quite possibly months in British politics. The Labour party is just about driving this country into the ground and taking barely any action - whether good or bad.

Action is usually better than no action. But that depends whether the action was good or bad. So far, Labour seem to be focusing on bad actions usually giving incredibly dull reasons. The conservatives aren't any better, true, they're policies are to back talk the Labour party, but Cameron seems to have some sense and at least gets things done.

Brown got shot down the other week for wanting to set limits on how much they could claim, per day they turned up to do their jobs. It's not until someone leaks the info until MPs start showing more and more support for reform. It's ridiculous, people claiming on their pools, moats, gardens etc from all sides.

I kinda see the whole MPs expenses thing as this. You are a pig and the farmer feeds you, but you have to give him your bacon to help buy you the feed. But instead of selling the bacon, he eats it himself.

    Yay metaphors.

Good on no-one. He did it, he allowed it to happen... he's at fault.
