Laptop Noise

Sometimes when I turn my laptop on I get a really high-pitched EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE noise which you can hear all over the house and it goes on for a minute or so. It switches off and next time I turn it on, it works. But this time it did it twice, second time it carried on rather than switching off. It's the kinda noise you get when theres an error and you hold down a random key. Anybody know why/how to fix it?

my old one used to do that when i went to open the security settings thing, like, where you go to reset it to factory settings. and that was really loud too, but um, i don't know how to fix it, sorry.
