My advice for you is to contact BT themselfs and see why your not getting the full speed. Unless you can change the settings.

Do some speedtests at varying times of the day (especially at peak) www.speedtest.net

Virgin media are good, but very expensive. I recommend Be*/o2 but I don't know if you can get them in NI?

As said, ring them up and ask them whats up. I'm with BT and am always getting our line's maximum speed.

You have to remember, it may be your line's physical properties that are stopped you from getting 8 meg, for e.g. our line can only take 6 meg.

Rang them, said I was going over a monthly download limit when the package we're on has unlimited :S
They said last month I downloaded 112GB and we're only allowed 80GB -.-

They reset my connection and said I'd gone over, check my lines limit and it's 6.5MB maximum so it seems cable is the option for higher DL speeds.
