Default Darfur.. and the Rwandan Genocide

Ok for all those out there who might not know:

The Rwandan Genocide occurred in 1994 and around 1,000,000 people were murdered. The Hutus started killing the Tutsis (the minority group in Rwanda at that time) after many years of unfair treatment. If you really want to know what happened, google it because I can't be bothered to explain everything.

The Darfur 'Conflict' (2003-present): To put it simply, the majority group (arabs) in Darfur was favoured by the government, so the minority group (black africans) rebelled and everything turned into a civil war/genocide.

Let's just refresh ourselves.. The UN was created after the second world war to protect and uphold human rights and they are supposed to stop and prevent any human rights' breaches from ever occurring, right?

So what did the UN do to stop these painfully obvious human rights' breaches? They just denied that anything was wrong.

So what do you guys think?

I don't know a lot about it but as far as I know there's a UN Peacekeeping mission going on in Darfur and the French also did/have a large presence over there.

I think we tried to help Africa yet they threw us out, and at a time when our own country is in deep debt and trouble itself, and at a time when the west is bankrupt and becoming bankrupt on its own principles aswell (democracy, rights) Africa should be the least of our worries. It is terrible yes, but thats just what happens.

The United Nations is pretty useless yes, as if it did have the power and influence to stop all wars then we should of never of even seen conflict in Iraq, Darfur or anywhere else in the world. Democracy has never been under more of a threat than now.
