it just doesn't show up? .avi work fine, does anyone know how I can either get .MKV files to work or convert the movies to AVI

Can't you get software to convert them to .AVI while your streaming them? Read about stuff like that in the past.

Nothing can play .MKV files, they're such a pain. But they're a popular container for pirating aparently because it gives a nice small file with good quality. Whatchagonnado

MKV is just a container lol. They're the future because they can contain pretty much anything. avi is massively out of date as a container now and is being used less and less because it can't contain x264 video which is what is being used more and more these days.

Try and stream it to your Xbox using TVersity.
