Seems mighty cheeky to me to demonstrate html5 in such a closed way as this in order to fool the people who may not be up to speed with it all that apple are the only ones supporting HTML5. Especially when things such as this are quite apparent:Apple has raised the ire of rival web developers by creating an HTML5 showcase that can only be used in its own Safari browser.
Apple has been promoting HTML5 as an alternative to Adobe's Flash, as the two firms battle it over Apple's refusal to allow Flash to work on its iPhone and iPad.
On a website titled "HTML5 and Web Standards," Apple says: "These web standards are open, reliable, highly secure, and efficient. They allow web designers and developers to create advanced graphics, typography, animations, and transitions. Standards aren’t add-ons to the web. They are the web."
Let's not try to promote HTML5 by making it a walled garden, and let's not reduce HTML5 to a meaningless buzzword
While the site clearly focuses on HTML5, just two of the demos make use of that technology, showing off the video and audio tags. The demo for 360 degree photos uses JavaScript, while CSS is used for the gallery, transitions and virtual reality demo. A combination of CSS3 and SVG run the typography sample.
Haavard Moen, a software engineer rival browser maker Opera, notes on his blog that "most of their demos seem to have got nothing to do with HTML5".
