I think it would be abused and interfere with moderation. Also it's a VIP feature and it wont be an award if we take away some of its features

No point, when a thread is unneeded it dies and if it breaks the rules it gets closed, so no point really :/

As Jamesy said it's a VIP feature and personally I find it incredibly annoying when people randomly close threads for no reason.

Ya but sometimes ppl dont like how their thread is going or whatever, it wont be breakin rules but they dont really like it so they might wanna close it (i know thats happened to me). So i dont see why not. Also VIP Is just dying, theres such a small amount of ppl VIP i dont see the point in pleasing them more than everyone else. Also you can't even buy VIP anymore (except like xmas n stuff, but that usually goes to charity amirite?) so people won't really be losing anything.

    I dont really mind. :]

From a moderation point of view this can be a nightmare as a VIP only feature - it'd be chaos if it was user-wide.

As said above by members (and Jamesy), it's a VIP feature and we can't really cut down on VIP features - as we need to maintain the eliteness of VIP.

People will start saying that they paid for it therefore should keep it, as Oli said in another thread.. they paid for the overline in the Christmas VIP so it can't be removed.

You might not be able to buy it anymore but a lot of users on this forum still have VIP. So yes, people will be losing something.
