With all great pixel art it takes time. If you wish to get good results, you need to take the time and work on your detaling, making sure that everything is lined up correctly and that any visable errors are corrected.

I guess it's hard to understand this in the earily stages but as your skill level advances, you will notice the need for DETAIL and TIME.

Some alterations can take a few hours, some a few days and if it's an extemely big project it may even take weeks.

And it denfinly shows in the end product.

And like Colossus said.

If you're still having issues with saving to .png, then i would advise you to save your images to .bmp.

From there you can then download a free Image Format Converter and save your images from .bmp to .png and doing so the integrity of your graphics will be saved.
