19,317. however i deleted my original account that i made in like 2005, and that had i think over 100,000 by the time i was done hahaha. i deleted it because my music taste had changed significantly and my "top artists" thing didnt reflect what i liked anymore, so i made a new account in the beginning of last year.

but even now its not totally accurate. the problem with last.fm is that it only counts how many plays, and doesnt take into account the length of songs. for instance was listening to a ton of joanna newsom earlier this year, but she's not even close to my top played artists because her songs are so incredibly long. my favorite album by her has only 5 tracks, the shortest of which is 9 minutes, and the album itself clocks in at around 50 minutes. on the other hand, i listen to madvillain a semi-decent amount, but theyre really high on my top artists because barely any of their tracks break the 3 minute mark. thus even if i were to listen to both madvillain and joanna newsom for the same exact amount of time, madvillain would count 4 times as much as joanna newsom. the same problem happens with lcd soundsystem, explosions in the sky and a couple other bands that dont get as much representation. hip-hop dominates my play count because of all the skits and stuff, and almost no rap songs go past 5 minutes.

hahaha i remember that. i introduced so many people on the forum to last.fm, when i first had my "recently played" sig i got messages all the time like "howd you get that?!?!?!" i think im still in it on my old account, now that i think about it i dont think i deleted it i think i just stopped using it.

oh and my account now is http://www.last.fm/user/samstunez. lil' wayne and stars of the lid are so high on the list because of my roommate last year, he didnt have a laptop and was always using mine haha.
