Default Good place online to buy speakers

head phone jack speakers, also I'm looking to buy something to save my dvds onto but something that can hook up to my tv (my tv doesn't have a usb port) so I can watch the dvds off the hard drive if that makes sense.

Not sure of a place to buy good speakers, just find reputable makes for sale anywhere then read reviews.

Some decent manufactures you could look into:
    - Harmon/Kardon
    - Bose
    - Altec Lansing
    - Cambridge Soundworks (branch of Creative I believe)
    - Logitech - some are pretty good, make sure you read reviews first.

    Generally avoid things like:
    - Computer manufacturers' branded speakers (eg. Advent, unless they are sub-branded with another decent make).
    - Obscure Japanese/Chinese brands (more likely to be of poor quality).
    - Unbranded speakers from ebay.

    Speaker configurations:
    - [speakers].[subwoofers]
    - 2.0 = 2 speakers, no subwoofer.
    - 2.1 = 2 speakers, 1 subwoofer.
    - 4.1 = 4 speakers, 1 subwoofer.
    - 5.1 = 5 speakers (usually 4 satellites, 1 centre), 1 subwoofer

Therefore I recommend you buy either a 4.1,5.1 or even 7.1 setup.

Also remember you can run pretty much any self-powered speakers through a 3.5mm jack using the right adapter (eg. 3.5mm to RCA).

DABs, Argos or Currys have a decent range of speakers online. I'm using some Logitech speakers, £5 from a carboot. I've got two speakers, and a base. The best speakers I've ever had!

If you want cheap speakers (i.e. £100 and less), but online, if you're looking for a more expensive set, go into various shops and ask for demos.

I personally have logitech x-530 5.1's. £50 from currys, really good speakers and well worth the price, great for gaming and watching DVD's.
I'm not sure about hooking up a storage device for movies though if your TV doesn't have a usb port.
