    Default Pulled groin muscle

    Hey,
I was out playing football with me mates and I pulled a muscle in my groin, it happened on Monday and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Anyone can say 'go to a doctor' but I'm not asking if I should go to a doctor I'm asking for advice on how to get the pain to go away.

Have anyone of you ever pulled your groin muscle? If so how did you get back to normal?

I need to get this sorted asap as its interfering with my daily workout.

This sounds pretty stupid. But I would just take standard pain relief for the pain e.g. paracetamol, ibuprofen etc.

    good luck!

I once pulled my groin really bad, i didn't let it recover and played football the next day, and the following few days. I could feel that i was realyl pushing it, but i played hrough the pain. It got so bad that i couldn't walk for a few days. Then a few months later i was playing, i smashed the ball with my left foot and i felt my groin click, i fell to the ground and was screaming. It was the worst pain i had ever felt, i had to go to the hospital and it was because i didn't let me groin recover first time. Now whenever i play if i feel the left side of my groin starting to ache i stop straight away. Its really annoying, and i always think back, and think i should of just let it recover. :@

So yeah, don't rush it, just let it recover at its own pace, or else you'll be really sorry.

I was just looking at this website http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/spra...roinstrain.htm I honestly don't know what to do, the tablets only help for an hour or so, even with tablets the smallest walk to the bathroom can hurt so bad.

You say that it is interfering with your daily workout. If this is the case then you should hold on the exercise and allow it to make a full recovery. Just have plenty of rest and refrain yourself from doing anything too vigorous which may cause further damage or prolong recovery.

Yeah, as above have said, lay off the exercise till it heals fully. You could maybe try a deep heat pad too, they're aparently really good for the pain.

As weird as it sounds... Take a bath, relaxes the muscle. I pulled that same muscle and mam told me to take a bath with salts. I thought it was ridiculas but it soothes the pain but it's not going to recover fully with that method.

Taking pills only covers up the pain, pain is there to tell you something is wrong... If there is not pain there then u dont know the limits and could cause damage.

Baths, baths and more baths lol. Also some deepheat? Helped me when I had been running for 6 hours in sand in the blistering heat. Took 7 days to recover, maybe longer.

Thanks for all the replies. I went to the doctor and I was right I pulled a groin muscle but I also might have a hernia which is making the pain worse. I got put on some really strong tablets and my legs feeling much better .
