    Angry Trojan :@

    Infecting my explorer.exe :@:@:@

This just takes the piss since the only thing I downloaded recently was divx player. My anti-virus program said it was a low threat trojan, but restarting my pc like it recommended only made matters worse with it beeping it's warning noise non stop and without letting me start my pc. Best I can do is get into safe mode.

Help! What can I do apart from format and reinstall vista?

I had a trojan that infected all of my .exe files and I couldn't open any shortcut so I had to go into it's disc location to bring it up.

The obvious first thing to do is remove the trojan. If all your .exe files are infected you might want to search for the term 'WINDOWS <OS HERE> ASSOCIATION FILES' which are registry files that fixes the .exe problem and makes the shortcuts accessible. If you can only access your computer through safe mode and you haven't found out how to start up normally your only choice may be a complete re-boot.

Reinstall windows, your computer cannot be trusted once it's infected.

Do exactly that. Vista is the worst windows OS to date.

If you're still having problems, hook your HDD up to another PC and use acronis to image the drive so you dont lose any files then reinstall win 7

Really the only thing I can add to this is.

Make a list of the programs you have installed.

Nothing sucks more than after a reinstall realising that that program you use like all the time was made by a tiny 3rd party developer and you can't remember their name.
