    Default Can I make my hard drive wireless?

    I bought a Samsung Story 2TB for $99 but I didn't expect it to have a power plug so I haven't used it as much as I want to because I'm just using a net book. Is there any way I can make it wireless so I can access it without having to go and plug it in?

    I googled it but I coudn't find much for the time that I looked but just if it helps I have a Wireless D-Link DIR-300 network router.

    I doubt it, its designed as a backup storage device not for network use. You could hook it up to another computer and then access the hard drive through it using the same network but its easier just to attach it to your laptop/notebook when you need to use it.

    The only solution I can think of as it's USB is a brand new router which allows USBs to plug into it which it'll share across the network. Rather expensive solution though and off hand I don't know of any routers which can do this (No doubt someone else could find one though).

    Edit: The Apple Airport Extreme is exactly what you need but it'll set you back about $180 which is hardly ideal. This router would also do the job;

    Thanks, I won't be buying the router because you've said and as you can see it's expensive, I'll see what else I can do with the networks.

    Edit: I haven't looked into the networks you can create with Win XP-7 but could I have it connected a desktop (XP) which through the router connects to my Win7 netbook?

    Connect it to a desktop PC, then share it off that PC, you'll be able to access the files via your home network..

    Either that or you can purchase a NAS box which you can plug into your router & access via the web?

    oh haha (sarcasm) aren't you a comedian...

    @ShibbyShabs i'm not even sure it would function without the power plug... It needs to get power from somewhere and i'm not sure if the usb ports provide as much as necessary... Best solution, as stated above, would be over the network. Hope it helps
