    Default 18th present

i am turning 18 this thursday and my mum said to me today she wants to get me something memorable
usually i just get like money and clothes for my birthdays and tbh i'd be happy with that this year
but she is adamant she wants me to have something else
she has suggested like a watch or jewellery, or a tattoo or a piercing of some kind but the only one of those i'd be interested in is a piercing, but my sixth form doesn't allow them so i don't know what to do
it would be rude if i said oh i want money...
is there any other present you can think of that would be 'memorable'
    (not a car i'm not that rich l o l)

I've been wanting to make a scrapbook and give it to my mum or teachers when it's their birthday. I think that's very sweet and memorable. Like her making you a scrapbook and oh well. Whatever sounds memorable to you is memorable

If not a car, how about driving lessons?
You should try and learn while you're still living at home and don't have so many bills to worry about.

i spoke with her and convinced her to just get me clothes
i told her what shops to go into but she said she's going to buy me stuff cos she wants it to be a surprise
i hope she keeps the receipts
tbh i don't want something that'll be a waste, and most of those things would
driving lessons are pointless unless she was to buy me all of them until i pass, so that's like 20-30, and i doubt she'd want to spend 300-450 pound
    thanks anyway you two

You could have asked for a Russian tortoise.

They last quite a bit so would be very memorable.

Asking for money on my birthday, I hate asking them sort of questions. I hate to ask anything off my mum because I seem to think I may be taking advantage off her etc.

    But I'm sure she'll understand, it's you 18!!!!!

Is time too mainstream for you to appreciate... like?

    She didn't say pick a practical use-able present. she said a memorable gift. I don't wear a watch often but I have had one for my 14th, 16th, 18th and I hope my 21st - memories .

My still goes with watches as my dress is normally formal (i never leave the house in anything but a shirt, even if it's casual shirt and t-shirt ) but you still don't need to have it matching your current style, you could keep it and never wear it. just for the memories?
