Fire Laptop

I have this laptop from 2006 to 2009 (I don't know when it was originally purchased) laptop which managed to last this long. Everything about it is irrelevant other than the fact that it heats up quite a lot.

I'm fixing on making a media center, and wanting to plug this laptop into the TV. If I leave it on all day and all night I think it will eventually catch fire and burn the house down. I can't really afford to buy another computer so does anyone have any ideas as to how to keep this guy cool? I was thinking perhaps a laptop cooling pad, or maybe taking off all the plastic on it and encasing it in some sort of external liquid cooling (it doesn't have to look pretty)

Open it up, clean out the dust, clean the fan make sure it runs smooth, when leaving it, kill most processors, put it to sleep or disable the screen possibly onto a screen saver if left for a long time don't use it on a bed / any cloth, and try and stream cold air into the fan, via a desk fan or anything, a window?

I'd advise remove most cables when leaving it alone.

Or to buy a new laptop if it overheats that much, possibly keep it on something fire proof and propped up so the majority of heat transfers to the air?

Also wilkensons are selling some decent cheap looking cooling pads / laptop pads for 15 pound I believe, tempted to get one but i'd end up using it on a bed and that aint good LMAO

The charger is more likely to catch fire than the laptop it self. Make sure it's on a hard surface so the fan isn't blocked and leave it be, it'll shut off long before it gets to a temperature to even damage itself.

If it gets hot enough for you to worry, it's too hot to use.
