Best companion on Skyim?

Hey, who do you guys think is the best companion on Skyrim? I've had about seven now, including Lydia, and I've managed to kill them all due to their abilities to get right in the way of me attacking. Is there any person you can recruit who's actually resiliant, or are they all ****?

All **** especially when you use a great sword, the amount of times i've sliced them

i use the guy that you have to pay and he uses magic erm forget his name and what town hes from, great help i know
i'll find out and edit, but ugh i hated lydia. i trusted her with my dragon **** and she goes and ******* dies somehow

oh ok i just went onto the number one of that and it's him so yeah

I got sick of killing my companion so I just told her to **** off :p

Much easier without one IMO.

I've already had a dragon land on J'zargo ha, but I'll get Mercutio, is there any way I can give them bettet stuff so they don't die?
