The Pavilion desktop doesn't come with a monitor, but I'm going to guess you already have one!
I would probably say that your best bet is the Laptop, the processor and harddrive pretty much suits your needs.

For what you want I would say the laptop is your best best.

but if you wanna upgrade in the future, go desktop.

Ok, so I've decided to get the following:

    This Laptop - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pav...61456-pdt.html
This screen to use my laptop and Sky Box on - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/aoc-20...50682-pdt.html
This Keyboard and mouse - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/logite...25224-pdt.html
    These Speakers - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/logite...uting~03990847

Would anyone recommend anything else etc & would that laptop be good for what I will be using it for?
