    Default Standard of Hx Wiki

    Hiya,

This has something that has been bugging me for quite a while, so I've now decided to post a feedback thread about it. I'm just writing with a small complaint, which may not be small, so let's just say complaint . Basically, I was browsing around Habbox Wiki earlier, but what I found on some pages was really quite shocking.

I'll give one such example of what I mean, http://habboxwiki.com/wiki/News_Reporters. This page has been up for months, yet is riddled with so many grammatical and spelling errors. Now, I understand that the public can edit the Wiki pages and improve upon them, but the errors here are just so extremely bad and unprofessional, that I do not understand why such pages are allowed to be up for so long without anyone noticing. I think the content team, just like the news team should have a good or at least decent standard of spelling and grammar and seniors should be more there when picking up mistakes.

Now there are few such similar pages (if you want more examples, I'll paste them in here), which I feel just are simply below standard. I think that for the Wiki to succeed, you need to adhere to at least some level of professionalism and not allow such pages to go live, then stay live for such a prolonged period of time.

Sorry to moan, but I felt this should just be posted!

I like how the person who wrote it clearly do not know what News Reporters do, I like how they say that we usually use our own words, it is our duty to produce our news reports using all our own words with quotes sometimes from Habbo or other sources. It's also not just Habbo based and a lot of information could go in that, I would change it but I doubt it would work on IE.

They've even deleted the page I did when I was staff so I guess I won't bother when my page was fine (and got changed everything bar the picture I used) so.

The pets page could be improved imo as I feel whoever did it has overused commas too much in incorrect places, however I do think it's informative.

I like how some pages are being updated a lot though like the Fansite page, I remember doing some of that page but it looks better than it did when I was writing.

They're just a few pages I remember though, some could be updated with more grammar etc. though but I like the Wiki regardless.

Thanks for posting this - it's better saying it and us changing it than the alternative of it going unsaid. Bethie, feel free to contact Zuth who may be able to facilitate your knowledge in this area. Maybe given your position you may want to do the page yourself or the news department and content management could maybe work together to produce the best possible outcome rather than us content designers having to do it.

If you do notice any errors you can edit it yourself to change them remember - and I understand that is not the answer your looking for in the long term and I'm sure Zuth will remind us to take extra care and to spell check

^^It's not only the news page though. I was using it as an example. I can easily go find spelling and grammatical errors on other pages. Or they aren't entirely valid or complete. Obviously the public can add to it, but I am sure no one would want to add anything to a page that is that badly written in the first place. It should have some foundations such as decent information, grammar and spelling. Otherwise the whole Wiki project might as well go down the drain!

Also, @Samanfa is not called 'Bethie' lool.

I agree with you Grig. The content department right now is confusing me anyway; but that's another issue. Some content designers aren't in charge of the Wiki (which is weird) so this can't be placed on every single content staff member. The spelling, I agree, must improve soon and fast! Seniors, as said, should obviously check around all the pages and actually make sure what is there is right (so, check with managers and check spellings). Can the seniors even spell themselves?

There are SO many dictionaries out there, find one and check if you're not sure.

There is a few frequent visitors (more than actual content staff) so I would imagine so...

We are still currently updating pages/creating them but I must say this is shocking. We are currently re-doing Habbox.com & backed off from the Wiki a little, as you may know the Habbox.com site has department pages on too and when they have been re-done I'm planning on adding the same content to the wiki for users to edit. Another thing I'd just like to say is that the wiki is a huge task to manage with so little staff, so its kinda hard finding errors like these so its down to people like you who spot them and then either report them or fix them yourselves so thanks

We were under alot of pressure to get the wiki out real fast and at some points I only had 3 staff so I apologise for the mistakes and I'll get someone to fix them soon

Whats so confusing? I dont get why you say some content designers are not in charge of the wiki? You can choose if you wona work on the wiki, main site or both? And spelling will be picked up on.

Considering that the wiki gets about the same page views per visit as HabboxForum I assume so.

It's not very clear that you can do that. To me, when I first returned, it was you're either here or there (or that's what I thought).
