    Default NetBook Help! :( +1 Rep :D

I want to buy a NetBook for sixth form this September as it'll really help me. I need one with as large a keyboard as possible but it still needs to be a NetBook instead of a Laptop so I can fit it in my school bag.

The only thing I will do on it is word processing, maybe some internet research too.

I'm looking to spend no more than £300

Battery life would need to be at least 8 hours. And a quick start-up time would be good.

These are two that I've been looking at, but I'm clueless when it comes to technology:

Please help me!? I just don't know what to get.

Asus EEE's are brilliant for the money, not as much battery life unfortunately.

You will find it hard to find a netbook which will last 8 hours on the battery in practice, imo.

    Here's another alternative.

Ditch the netbook, get a tablet of some sort, you seriously won't do as much word processing at school itself as you think without using your school's desktops.

But I plan to ditch pen and paper all together and do all my class notes on the netbook and store it in virtual folders instead of a physical bulky one. Also, I'll back it up on a memory stick. I think I'll get work done 10x quicker than writing by hand and will be more inspired to do better work as I can erase something quickly and rewrite it even better, etc.

Dunno what lessons you are taking but it is impractical to take notes by typing in lessons such as Physics, Maths, Chemistry, etc.

English Language and Film Studies. In English, I think it's pretty practical. And in Film, it seems all we ever do is take notes for 3 hours and 2 hours at a time.

I had the exact same thought as you when I started Sixth Form, but in reality it's much quicker and easier to pull out a notepad and pen, it's also a lot less... I wouldn't like to say rude, but going that way, when you're in a class size of say 10.

Netbooks are a quickly dying breed. You might be better off getting a stylus for an iPad and using an app like Penultimate to take digital hand written notes, which is what I do at work.
