No, No and No ha. I'm not a big apple fan anyway's (like the products, not the prices) but for what he's asked for just typing some stuff out he'd get more out of a notepad than a mac.

The Windows 8 tablets coming out soon seem pretty decent for this, particularly Microsoft Surface. You could wait until then? If not, a simple NetBook from ebuyer, amazon, play.com or even ebuyer should suffice. Shop around for the best deals, they vary often.
