    Default Please help, website problems!

    Hi guys. I'm having loads of problems trying to get my website re-directed. I own the website alexelliott.org.uk.

    Whenever you go to this site it comes up saying :
    alexelliott.org.uk - Coming Soon!

    Powered by zFast Technologies

    It's really frustrating me. I want to re-direct http://alexelliott.org.uk/maint to http://alexelliott.org.uk but it just won't work.

    http://(www.)alexelliott.org.uk / WHAT GOES HERE?

    redirects to --->

    Thank you so much in advance, plus rep if anyone can help!

    From what I can tell, it could be either of two problems:

    You bought the website domain from zFast and haven't updated the nameservers to your web hosting provider, so they've put up a splash page.

    Or, you haven't put the website in the public_html or www folders.

    Let us know where you bought the domain and who your hosting company is, and we should get to the bottom of it pretty quickly!

    Well everything was working fine but I deleted the re-directs so I could put the maintenance page back up. I bought my domain and hosting from zFast. And they are in the public_html folder.

    Okay, so from what I can see - going to http://alexelliott.org.uk/maint does redirect you to just http://alexelliott.org.uk/ - are you trying to get the page that shows up at /maint to show up just on http://alexelliott.org.uk/ ?

    Yes, correct. I want the maint page to show up on alexelliott.org.uk regardless of whether someone puts in www.alexelliott.org.uk or just alexelliott.org.uk

    EDIT: I do currently have a re-direct which must be wrong.

    Yeah, you'll want to delete that re-direct as it probably won't do what you're looking for.

    I've made you a .htaccess file which should do the trick: http://elliot.in/uploadme.zip

    Pop that in your public_html (the file inside the ZIP, not the actual ZIP) and you'll be on your way!

    Thanks, that worked. I also have my main website which I want to upload in a few weeks time. How do I do that?

    When you're ready to reveal your main website - just upload it straight into public_html and remove the .htaccess file. Lovely splash page by the way!

    Thank you. It's a shame when you hover over anything the mouse button comes up. Something wrong with my coding there. Thank you so much for your help. Might have problems uploading site but I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

    No problem, good luck with the website!

    The mouse pointer is default browser behaviour whenever you hover over a link, it's not too big a deal.

    You should be able to prevent it with this CSS if you really want:

    a:hover {
    cursor:default;
    }
